YouTube is reportedly looking to enter the online gaming market.

Following the demise of Google Stadia, it appears that the search giant is looking to return to the gaming market. This time, however, it could be via YouTube. According to recent leaks, this could happen very soon. Continue reading to learn more.

YouTube Gaming Service Coming Soon!

According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, YouTube is internally investigating a method to allow users to play games online on both the mobile app and the website. The new "Playables" service is being sent out to a few Google employees in order to get feedback and opinions.

When it is released, Playables will provide ready-to-play instant games through both the app and the website. This will be a completely different service than the video content that YouTube is renowned for. You will not, however, need to install a separate app for this. If you recall, Netflix provides a similar service. There is a dedicated game option within the Netflix app that allows users to participate with bite-sized online games based on Netflix.

If we imagine gaming and Google in the same frame, we will get a bittersweet flavour. The cause for this is Google Stadia. Google Stadia, a cloud gaming service, was launched in 2021. However, due to a lack of popularity and a poor adoption rate, it was swiftly shut down within a year of its introduction.

So you can understand why people are sceptical about this fresh insight. One thing to keep in mind is that Playables is intended to provide easy leisure games rather than console-level blockbuster. As a result, we don't see why it shouldn't become popular. Especially among casual gamers who want to spend 10-20 minutes every day immersed in gameplay.

The flow of information is now relatively limited. We have no idea when YouTube intends to make this service official. However, we anticipate that this plot will evolve over time and take on a much more solid form. Meanwhile, please share your thoughts on this development. Do you like YouTube games that are bite-sized? If so, what kinds of titles do you anticipate? Leave your opinions in the comments section below.
